To some people this makes a lot of sense:- Chop down millions of acres of biodiverse rainforest, bombard them with tonnes of nitrogen fertiliser, plant a massive monoculture, burn the crop and repeat until soil is exhausted - all the while forcing peasants off the land and driving up the cost of grain. If your aim is to destroy carbon sinks, place a huge nitrous oxide bomb in the Amazon and force millions into starvation all for the sake of a few more years at the wheel, then its a top-hole wheeze. Otherwise, no.
